WESCO @ 100 Anniversary Float

On the 18th of June 2022, Wesley College of Education embarked on its centenary anniversary float. As part of the schedules for the centenary celebration, the anniversary float was next on the list.

The principal streets of Kumasi were filled with numerous students, teachers, non-teaching staff and alumni of the college.

The float began at exactly 8:20 am. But before that, Students from the various halls had gathered in front of the administration block and charged themselves with a short Morale/Jama session.
The Morale/Jama session was a great and competitive one. The reason was that members of the various halls wanted to prove superiority. The attire of students also counted as they repped their halls in branded anniversary T-Shirts which had Dunwell-Margaret in red, Brew-Charity in yellow, Freeman-Vera in green and Knight-Persis in blue.

The attendees, led by the brass band exited the college through the main gates and head towards the Suame roundabout, through to Abrepo junction and then the streets of Bantama.
Due to the number of attendees, sound systems were also mounted in a car so as to ensure that, students who could not hear or enjoy tunes from the brass band would be sorted out with recorded songs from the selected playlists.

The police unit of the Suame community deployed numerous police officers to guide, direct and protect students from theft and most importantly vehicular accidents. They were supported by the school’s cadet corps.

The roundabout of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) was not left out.
After which the attendees directed themselves to Adum, close to Kejetia market.
Some people could not stand the excitement and had to join from their homes. The momentum never reduced as students had the chance to socialize, burn some calories and most importantly enjoy themselves.

The streets of Manhyia were not left out. The float ended as the last streets visited were Ashanti New Town, Krofrom, some parts of Tafo and back to the college at exactly 12:05 pm.

18th June was a day worth remembering. An August occasion for that matter.
