The initiative, led by Mrs Olivia Serwaa Opare (née Olivia Serwaa Ameyaw), reflects the organisation’s commitment to promoting digital inclusion and enhancing access to quality education through technology. Mrs Opare is the Director of STEM Education at the National STEM Resource Unit of the Ghana Education Service, based at the Accra Headquarters. She is a proud alumna of Wesley College of Education (Women’s Section, 1990/91, House: Vera) and a former Science Teacher at Mmofraturo Girls Boarding School. Her rich background in science education and leadership continues to drive impactful initiatives to transform education through innovation and technology.

The donation is expected to greatly improve internet connectivity on campus, thereby supporting teaching, learning, research, and administrative work.

The Starlink system will provide high-speed and reliable internet access, enabling both staff and students to engage effectively in online academic activities, access global educational resources, and participate in digital innovation. This aligns with WESCO’s vision of integrating technology into education and preparing students for a digitally driven world.

The leadership of WESCO has expressed profound gratitude to Powerhouse Women, Ghana Chapter, for this timely and impactful intervention. The college remains committed to maximising the benefits of this facility to enhance academic delivery and digital transformation.

This partnership marks a significant step forward in bridging the digital divide and strengthening the role of ICT in teacher education in Ghana
